“God sent Jim and Lynne for ME that day”
At a recent MOPS Presentation, Kelly (name changed) introduced Jim and Lynne to the audience. What the moms in the room didn’t anticipate was that Kelly had already been personally and profoundly impacted by Connected Families principles. With her permission, we’d like to share what she said to the group that day:
“I can personally attest to how God has powerfully used the Jacksons to coach and guide parents, especially those who find themselves frustrated and in need of guidance with their intense and challenging children.
After hearing the Jacksons speak at our MOPS group last year I was moved deeply (to tears a couple of times) with the power and truth of their message and I felt like God had sent them for me that day.
My husband Todd and I were experiencing a particularly challenging season with our oldest, very intense daughter and were feeling very overwhelmed and defeated in our parenting. Through their message, the Jacksons gave a voice to our frustration and for the first time I felt like someone truly understood our parenting challenges and I was hopeful that our daughter was a “Bundle of Opportunity” and not doomed to failure as we have heard from others.
Needless to say, I read the Jackson’s “Connected Families” book that afternoon and then I reached out to Lynne through an email and Todd and I began coaching with Lynne last April.
While we still have challenges with our daughter, we have made great strides and can now confidently say that we have a much deeper and connected relationship with her. We have learned valuable skills and techniques to help our daughter work through conflict, constructively express her emotions and bolster her confidence.
Perhaps more importantly through this process, we have seen major heart changes in ourselves. In parenting our very intense, sensitive and spirited child, we have seen firsthand how God puts these kids under our care to shape and refine us. These spirited kids are in many ways our “iron that sharpens iron”.
I am so grateful for the Jacksons and for how God has used them in a mighty way to help connect and strengthen families, including mine.”
