Danielle is a licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist and homeschooling mother of ten years. Recognizing the genuine challenges of parenting as well as the unique privilege, Danielle loves coming alongside families to help them experience God’s grace and a deeper connection with each other. David loves helping people connect with God’s heart and has found his own relationship with the Lord being deeply impacted by the Connected Families framework. He has almost twenty years of experience in mentoring and coaching ministry leaders in spiritual and family rhythms and is delighted to now offer CF coaching.

David and Danielle Cervenka were greatly helped by the Connected Families coaching program as they were serving as missionaries in Japan. They wanted to change the culture in their home where tension and yelling were commonplace, and disciplinary tools were frequently characterized by shame. They are still far from perfect, but their home is now characterized by connectedness and understanding, and peace is much more commonplace.

They now live in Texas but are still heavily invested in missionaries living overseas. They love being able to pass on the Connected Families framework and see families grow in connectedness both locally and abroad.

After saying “Yes” to Jesus to move to Belize as a missionary from 2008-2018, our family was never the same. Since we became parents, we have grown in having biological, foster, and adopted children and experience with traumas, abuse, ADHD, fetal alcohol syndrome, self-harm, and sensory and intense behaviors. Because I have learned and read so much over the years, the Lord has taught me how to be a better parent and how to walk as a child of God as well. I want to serve other families with compassion, biblical truth, practical suggestions, equipping, and a listening ear in crisis. Homeschooling our children is such a blessing, but it can also be such an intense experience when we face challenges. As a Charlotte Mason home educator, I truly believed in the personhood of my kiddos, but I felt so in-over-my-head with our sensitive and intense nature, ADHD tendencies and anxiety that wrapped around all of it. Parent Coaching through Connected Families became the catalyst for God’s healing and a deeper understanding of the personhood of my entire family. Our challenges turned into strengths. The trajectory of our home was forever changed! This is the hope and toolset that I love to share with others. Now, as a Parent Coach, I get to walk alongside other families and watch the Framework grow in them. I’ve seen first hand how this maturing sense of peace, connection, wisdom, and resiliency creates space for the gospel to be lived out in the home and homeschool. I especially love working with Charlotte Mason educators and helping them see how beautifully the Connected Families Framework aligns with their education philosophy. Background Information. Amy has lived in Oregon City since 2016 where she now homeschools her three intensely dynamic and creative – ages 14, 12, and 9. She and Andrew have been married for almost 20 years and love building things, creating things, literature, and exploring the outdoors. For many years, we pursued help for our sensitive and intense child without success. By the teen years, our family was spiraling out of control. We sent our child to a therapeutic boarding school, but it didn’t produce the promised change in our family. It wasn’t until we found Connected Families and began to change the way we were parenting that we experienced a significant breakthrough. Partnering with a Connected Families coach and learning to utilize the parenting framework brought hope and changed the trajectory of our family. I have a passion for working with parents of young children so that they might avoid the pitfalls we made in our parenting journey. I also have a heart for working with parents of pre-teens and teens so that they know there is always hope for a restored relationship and an opportunity to change the future. The simple and effective teaching of Connected Families helps me recognize what’s really going on in me that drives my reactions to my children, helps me have compassion for what is going on in my children, and provides practical tools to guide them with love and connection that builds wisdom and responsibility. Before Connected Families, I was reading so much about the latest brain research and didn’t really have the skills to apply it to my Christian parenting. When I learned how Connected Families incorporates the latest brain science, therapeutic research, and Biblical truth into a beautiful, grace-filled plan, I knew we were onto something amazing. Learning to parent through the framework has been a journey of spiritual formation for me. I have learned to see how God parents me with patience, kindness, and long-suffering and always for my good. All families struggle at times, and we all need support. I desire to bring hope and direction for parents through parent coaching and see a lasting positive change in the whole family. As a parent coach I am passionate about the well-being of families. I come alongside parents and help them find a long-lasting plan that increases peace and grace in the family. I am a mom of three active girls and an Executive Director at a family ministry called Moms for Kids or “Momssit”. Through my work, I serve families especially in Finland. With a B.S. in Biblical Studies and over 15 years of ministry experience as a pastor, I bring both personal and professional passion to helping families grow in grace and connection. I am a Certified Parent Coach (Connected Families), an Affiliate Trainer for Trauma Free World, and a Certified Facilitator for Prepare & Enrich. As a therapeutic foster parent and mom of three, two adopted through the foster care system, I understand the complexities of parenting children with deep histories of trauma. I discovered Connected Families in the darkness of my own parenting journey. I was desperate for help, parenting children who had recently received multiple diagnoses, and my husband and I felt completely ill-equipped to meet their needs. Through Connected Families, we found grace, understanding, and practical tools that gave us the confidence to parent through adversity, and discover healing on the other side. Today, I work at an alternative school, where I witness daily the transformative power of connection with students from the hardest places. I also serve on the vision team for Foster the City, equipping and inspiring churches to provide loving homes and supportive communities for children in foster care. I found Connected Families at a time of desperation with my children, and I received the tools, instruction, and hope to forge a new path with them. After taking the DTC online course and receiving one-on-one coaching, there was an amazing trajectory shift in our family. I am a wife and mother of three young adults, each of which is so different than the next! It is my desire to come alongside families that are looking for a better way to parent and help them make lasting changes. I want to extend the same hope that I received to those who are just starting the parenting journey as well as to those who, like me, found themselves in a broken place. It is never too late for God’s grace and truth to change lives! In my early 60’s, I unexpectedly encountered Connected Families on the Internet and, even at this age, what I learned was so encouraging! I sure wish I had had Connected Families as a young mom! As I engaged with the framework through the Discipline that Connects online course, received coaching myself, and continued to engage with other Connected Families materials, I began to see a new richness in my life, my marriage, and even my extended family! This gave me a desire to share what I was learning by pursuing parent coaching certification. My husband and I have been missionaries with FamilyLife, a Cru ministry for over 30 years. We have had a heart to see families experience the hope and help they can find only in a relationship with Christ. As a certified parent coach, I now have another tool to offer families so that parents can experience God’s transforming grace and truth and share it with their kids. I am excited to walk with parents (or grandparents!) to discover God’s unique plan for their family! Working with the Connected Families framework has become an important part of my everyday life. The need for change in our ways of thinking and acting is a task that our circumstances often push us toward. As a mother of three, I have needed truthful and grace-filled insight into my own parenting and my ways of responding to the changing needs and situations in my children’s lives — without forgetting myself in the process.
