As a mother to 5 kids (ages 17 to 7), I understand the unique challenges and joy parents face, especially parenting children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, gifted, dyslexia, developmental delays, mental health challenges and adoption trauma. Before finding Connected Families I searched everywhere for resources and read book after book about methods that were short lived. That is where I hit the wall of desperation and sought parent coaching through Connected Families. I ultimately became a coach through their training program to help others like me. I’ve spent over twenty years helping the next generation respond to God as a pastor and ministry leader. I became a Connected Families Coach to support the parents in our church body and the deeper I go with these materials and methods the more I am inspired! I love Connected Families because it is a call to live out the gospel in our closest relationships. Soaked in scripture, these ways lead each of us in our parenting journey humbly to the Cross of Christ (Do-overs) and help us grow to live out the fruit of the Spirit (restoring our children gently) and inspiring all to be a blessing as we parent with the Connect Families Framework. The majority of my time, outside of the care and keeping of my family (husband Matt and 3 teenagers), is given to leading Kids and Family ministry in Minnesota at my local church. This is work I love! For 8 years, with my team, I have had the great joy of loving on kids in Jesus name and building routines and memories that (I pray) will lead to deep abiding faith and home in the church for all those that grow up in our care. We help parents have peace and a plan for living the intentional life they deeply desire with their kids. We knew we wanted to disciple our kids to know and love Jesus, but the daily chaos of homeschooling four kids and running a business, along with sensitive and intense temperaments among us all, left us feeling reactive, angry, controlling, and disconnected from our kids. Connected Families parent coaching brought the peace and plan we needed to be the kind of parents we wanted to be – ones who do not find our identity in perfect parenting but who receive God’s grace and truth for ourselves and then pass that on to our children. As Connected Families certified coaches since 2021, we help parents become more confident in who they are in Christ, and from this foundation, begin to enjoy close, connected relationships while discipling their children to grow in wisdom. I came to Connected Families as a seasoned teacher turned homeschool mom (with a sensitive and intense child) at the end of my parenting rope. Now as a CF coach I want to help other struggling families dive into this whole-Bible, whole-brain approach that helps us make the Christ centered change we want to see. I believe there is so much grace available for parents who, like me, desire to help their children grow in wisdom when they struggle. Our challenges are an opportunity to see God move, to let the Holy Spirit guide us, and to live in more of the fullness of what God has for our families. As a former child therapist and a current stay-at-home mom to a five-year-old and two-year-old twins, I have the unique ability to see the world from the eyes of a child while also understanding the complexities and difficulties of being a parent. I would love to help guide you through the uncomfortable and sometimes painful—yet fundamental—detective work that will help us identify the existing wounds that may be lending a hand to the difficulties you are currently experiencing with your child(ren). During our coaching sessions, we will work to identify these existing wounds, give them over to God, and create a parenting plan that both mirrors the heart of Jesus and is supported by neuroscience. While working as a child therapist, I focused largely on play therapy while equipping parents with tools and skills backed by neuroscience, slowly realizing that the scientific research I was sharing with other parents perfectly aligns with the word of God. While I wholeheartedly believe that play therapy can be extremely beneficial for many kiddos, I witnessed the greatest changes in the kiddos whose parents were able to take the scientific research and tools I was providing them with and apply them consistently at home. For many years I have studied and worked largely from an attachment lens in which I instinctively incorporate into my coaching sessions. I am a registered nurse by trade and work in a Mom/Baby Unit – the best unit in the hospital. As much of an honor as it is to welcome new life into the world, it is an even greater honor to be a parent coach! I have three beautiful, unique, and passionate children. As they grew from babies into tiny humans, I quickly realized that all the books I had read on parenting weren’t enough. I didn’t have a practical plan for the way I felt God was calling me to raise my children. When my husband and I went through coaching, our perceptions changed. We now have hope and a God-honoring plan for parenting that combines my love for science with the grace and love of the Gospel. I’m a mom of three daughters – two young adults, and one school-ager. I know firsthand the challenges that can come with parenting, including sensory issues, ADD, anxiety, and neurodiversity, to name a few. I started my professional journey in music therapy, where I worked with children with a wide variety of special needs. More recently, I spent nearly a decade in children and family ministry where I was able to create and build a special needs ministry to provide support to children and their parents. Not long after we had our third child, we learned about Connected Families and its many resources. This grace-filled framework to parenting has totally changed our family dynamics after years of trying a wide variety of approaches. I have a passion for facilitating personal growth and development in children and guiding their parents in that process. I am a wife, a mom of two strong-willed and doubly gifted teenage girls, and have worked in Kids Ministry for over 15 years. I know that kids are a gift from God. I also know that their behaviors can be challenging and can lead to parent reactions that we don’t intend. I have been there! When I was introduced to Connected Families, I felt like I finally had language, tools, and hope to help me parent well and lead ministry well. Josh has been caring for, coaching, and inspiring people for two decades. He is a graduate of The Arrow Leadership Program, has studied family ministry at Briercrest College and Seminary, is a certified Parent Coach through Connected Families, and is trained in church trauma care through Crown College. He was a youth pastor and care pastor for 19 years and is currently the Spiritual Life and Advancement Director at Community Christian School in Willmar, MN. He is a 2 on the Enneagram and a High i on the DiSC profile. He believes deeply that everyone’s life has a unique purpose and loves helping people answer some of their biggest questions about God, family, and life.
