JIM: Greetings, Connected Families community! Jim and Lynne here, getting dressed up to celebrate Christmas! I’ve got my Austrian caroling hat on, got the fire going, and the lights on, and we are eager to celebrate the coming of the Lord.
As we age, we so resonate with the Apostle Paul’s words in his letter to the Thessalonican church, where he says, “we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well because you have become so dear to us.” (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
Over the past year, Lynne and I have had the privilege via zoom, or even in person, of meeting so many of you. And indeed, this community, as it grows, is so loving and graceful.
We want to wish this community of people a very merry Christmas to celebrate well in the messes, the glory, and the wonder of the season with your families.
LYNNE: I’d like to share a verse I’ve been working on memorizing. The context is the salvation that’s offered through the grace and purposes of God. It says, “This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 1:9-10a) That’s an amazing thought that this grace was offered through the sacrifice of Christ from the beginning of time to the end of time. We get to celebrate that it’s revealing Christ Jesus to be our Savior at this special time of year.
JIM: So celebrate well, responsibly, and welcome God’s grace and truth right into the joy, the chaos, the messes, the mercies, and the wonder of your Christmas season.
